Hammonton is one of three municipalities in the state to have the trusted name and service of Sears compacted in a small, convenient privately-owned authorized retail dealership.
Sears, Blueberry Crossing, 240 S. White Horse Pike, is a Sears Authorized Hometown Retail Dealer privately owned and operated by Rita Unger.
Opened in 1996, Unger took advantage of an opportunity to convert the original Sears catalog store that had been in Hammonton for approximately 30 years to an authorized retail dealership.
“We offer big corporation benefits and products in a comfortable personal setting of a small town store,” Unger said.
Customers can take advantage of the location close to home without sacrificing quality and selection of products, she continued.
Sears offers a variety of brands in appliances, electronics, lawn and garden, tools, automotive and fitness.
Unger’s authorized retail dealership offers services including credit card applications and services, parts and delivery service, online shopping with in-store pick up and much more.
Unger’s 20 years of experience in sales begins with several years working in the Sears catalog store when it was located in (the now) Peach Tree Plaza, three of them under owner resident Mary Sweeney.
When Sweeny decided to purchase and operate the Authorized Hometown Retail Dealership located in Cape May, Unger purchased the Hammonton location from her in 1996.
Unger has enjoyed working for Sears due to its versatility and accessibility.
“I like the fact that Sears offers all different brands of appliances. They are accessible in meeting the customers’ needs of a quick turn-around time and they pride themselves on customer satisfaction,” she said.
In addition, her role as owner of a hometown retail dealership enables her to establish relationships with her customers.
“Through the years I have established relationships with the people of Hammonton. I love the people in town. Knowing them makes me strive to do a good job for them,” she said.
From Thursday, July 17 to Sunday, July 20, Sears will be celebrating 15 years in business offering Authorized Hometown Retail Dealerships, according to Unger.
As such, they are having a sale on a variety of items including 15 percent off of washers and dryers.
Additional savings can be found with scratch and win cards, offering anywhere from an additional two to ten percent off of their entire purchase.
As part of the 15-year celebration, Sears will be giving away prizes including a Kenmore washer and dryer, a Kenmore dishwasher, a Craftsman lawnmower and line trimmer, a Dyson vacuum and a Craftsman Professional zero-turn radius tractor valued at $6,300.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
