OBITUARIES

 

 

Donald P. Crescenzo, D.D.S., 75, of Hammonton, died February 27, 2008, at home.
Born in Hammonton, he was a lifelong resident. Donald was a 1950 graduate of Hammonton High School, 1953 graduate of Georgetown University, and 1957 graduate of Georgetown Dental School. He was a member of the American Dental Association. Donald opened his dental practice in 1960 and operated until his retirement in 1996. He received the Nice Going award in 2000 from the Hammonton Chamber of Commerce for outstanding leadership and devoted service to the community. He was the past president of the Hammonton Board of Education, past president of Hammonton Exchange Club, past chairman of Board of Trustees of Atlantic Community College and a former member of St. Joseph High School Booster Club. He served in the United States Navy as 2nd Lt. during the Korean Conflict.
Predeceased by: parents, William and Jennie; son, Peter; brother, William. Surviving him are: wife, Kathleen (nee Parisi); sons, Donald M.D. and his wife Maura of Sylvania, Ohio, Michael and his wife Marie, Steven and his wife Jennifer, David, D.D.S. and his wife Stacey all of Hammonton; brother, Robert of Hammonton; sister, Rita Mae Griggs of Lakehurst; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Christopher, David Jr., Nicholas, Alexandra, Kaitlyn, Colby, Caroline, Sarah, Kelley Crescenzo.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on March 3 at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church followed by entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Josephine A. Repa, 72, of Hammonton, died February 29, 2008, at home.
Born in Hammonton, she was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Repa along with her late husband Vincent were formerly the founders and owners of Mainline Card and Gift Shop in Hammonton and Touch of Class Card and Gift Shop in Berlin.
Surviving her are: daughter, Jeanine Repa of Boca Raton, Fla.; son, Joseph V. Repa Sr. and his wife Anna Marie of Hammonton; grandchildren, Cailtyn Repa, Joseph V. Repa Jr. both of Hammonton; sisters, Nina Jean Gottardi of Cherry Hill, Vera Maimone of Elmtowne.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial today at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Annie L. Huff, 93, of Folsom, died February 25, 2008, at the Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Franklinville, she lived in Folsom for 20 years. She was a retired glass cutter for Dougherty Brothers in Buena. Mrs. Huff was a member of the AFLCIO Glass Workers of America, and a member of the Piney Holly Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, traveling to Florida and Albuquerque, New Mexico, gardening, but most of all she enjoyed talking about all her grandchildren whom she cherished.
Predeceased by: parents, Lewis and Mabel Dilks; husband, Warren Huff; two sisters; three brothers; daughter-in-law, Angie Huff; great-granddaughter, Gina Durham. Surviving her are: children and their spouses, Nell and Joseph Woulfe of Folsom, Peggy and Walter Jones of Buena, Warren and Hilda Huff of Vineland, John and Arlene Huff of Okeechobee, Fla., Howard and Mary Huff of Heislersville; great-grandson, Bobby Durham whom she helped raise and was the apple of her eye and his wife Melissa; grandchildren, Brian and Janice, Mike and Jean, Dawn, Sandy, Joanne and Andy, Howard, Shannon and Stefan, Shane and Michelle, Albert, Diane and Tim, Sharon and Bob, Barbara and Bill, John, Kenny, Kelly, Stephanie and Paul; 30 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends attended religious services on February 29 at Piney Hollow Methodist Church followed by burial at the church cemetery.

Charlene “CB” Bates (nee Heresco), 54, of Vineland, died March 1, 2008 at Southern Regional Medical Center in Vineland.
Born in Quinton, she was a lifelong area resident. She was a retired health care specialist at the Vineland Development Center. Mrs. Bates formerly worked at Heresco’s Market in Quinton, which was owned by her parents. Her hobbies were bird watching, shopping and collecting fairies.
Surviving her are: husband, Ronald R. Bates; sister, Charlotte Marich of Bridgeton; mother-in-law, Angelina Bates of Collins Lakes; aunt, Mildred Fletcher; best friend and “adopted sister,” Vera Butterworth-Bohn of Millville; nieces, Lisa, Tammy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on March 8 from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Carnesale Funeral Home where memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Fernwood Cemetery.

Jenny C. Schenk, 83, of Hammonton, died March 3, 2008.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a Hammonton resident most of her life. She was a 1942 graduate of Hammonton High School. Jennie was crowned Peach Queen of Hammonton. She was a former member of the Women’s Civic Club, a long time member and Elder of Hammonton Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Hammonton Historical Society. Jennie was a charter member, past president and served on the board of trustees of W.B. Kessler Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was the chairman for many years of the fashion show.
Predeceased by: husband, Robert J. Schenk. Surviving her are: sons, Robert Jr. and his wife Barbara and William, all of Hammonton; daughter Carol Schwalje and her husband Charles of East Brunswick; grandchildren, Ryan, Shawna, Lauren and LaSchelle Schenk, April Torres, Gregory and Lindsay Schwalje; companion, Dr. Clifford Johnson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, March 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home and funeral services on Friday, March 7 at 2 p.m. at the Hammonton Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery.

James K. Burk, 49, of Hammonton, died February 27, 2008, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Born in Simcoe, Ontario, CA, he was a resident of Hammonton since 1986. Mr. Burk worked as a heavy equipment operator for Sauder & Son Excavating in Vineland.
Surviving him are: wife, Judy Lynn Burk; sons, John K. Burk, Jason J. Burk all of Hammonton; father, Ken Burk; brothers, Ron Burk, Gerald Burk, Steven Burk, and A.J. Burk of Canada.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on March 3 at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Charles G. Parker, 68, of Folsom, died February 28, 2008, at home.
Born in Folsom, he was a lifelong resident there. Mr. Parker was a superintendent for Folsom Highway Department. He was a member of the MB Taylor Lodge No. 141 in Hammonton; the Garden State Model A Club; the TCA Train Collectors of America, and a member of the Folsom Fire Co. for over 25 years having served as captain and chief. He served in the Army Reserves for six years.
Surviving him are: wife, Christine R. Parker (nee Joie); daughters, Robin Joy Parker of Folsom, Charlotte Ann Fondacaro and her husband Joe of Hammonton; sister, Barbara M. Colasurdo and her husband James of Hammonton; grandchildren, Amber Elizabeth Naylor, Ashley Marie Naylor, Lindsay Marie Fondacaro, Kristina Lynn Fondacaro, Joseph Charles Fondacaro; mother-in-law, Eileen Joie.
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on March 3 at St. Jacobus Church in Folsom followed by burial at the church cemetery.

Mildred J. Crowder (nee Grays), 75, of Goose Creek, S.C. and formerly of Winslow, went home to be with the Lord on February 27, 2008, at home.
Born in Baltimore, she worked at the Hammonton Park Clothes as a seamstress and Mrs. Paul’s in Blue Anchor. Mildred retired from The Playboy Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City in 1994 after 20 years as a security guard.
Surviving her are: children, Ancorn Wilson, Marva Handy both of Sicklerville, Deborah Johnson and her husband Fred of Winslow; sisters, Elise Ann Bourgeois, Dorothea Cook both of Philadelphia, her twin sister Marjorie Grays of Sicklerville; grandchildren, Keith Lyles, Kean Johnson, Jerome Handy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing tonight from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home with funeral services at 7 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Ramonita Algea, 60, of Somerdale and formerly of Hammonton, died February 29, 2008, at Kennedy Health Systems in Stratford.
Surviving her are: husband, Ramon Ortiz; children, Jorge Luis Caraballo, Dacier Caraballo, Ana Maria Ortiz all of Somerdale; grandchildren, Joshua, Shalique Cecilio, Shamari, Christopher, Katilya Maria, Brianna Maria, Elian Jose; nine brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on March 4 at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church followed by burial at Greenmount Cemetery.
