Town receives $600K in grants

HAMMONTON—New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Joseph Doria announced that Hammonton would be receiving $600,000 in Small Cities Grant money. The announcement was made on February 29. Hammonton was the only Atlantic County municipality to receive the funding. Dover in Morris County and Hammonton each received a total of $600,000 in grants, the two highest total dollar amounts out of the more than $8.2 million in 27 grants awarded to four counties and 20 municipalities throughout the entire state.

School budget tops $43,000,000

HAMMONTON—The Hammonton Board of Education voted unanimously to send a preliminary 2008-2009 budget to the county superintendent of schools during a special meeting held on March 4. The total budget reached a new high of $43,301,196. The figure includes the totals of the general fund, special revenue fund and debt service fund.

HAMMONTON—One key element in the revitalization of downtown Hammonton is available parking.
During the last two years, mayor and town council have been working on partnering with downtown property owners to create reverse parking lots behind known trouble spots.

Fundraiser for Velardi held
