OBITUARIES

 

 

William A. DiMeo, 88, of Hammonton, died April 2, at Atlantic City Medical Center.
Born in Hammonton, he was a lifelong resident. He was co-owner of Columbia Fruit Farms of Hammonton until his retirement. Mr. DiMeo served in the United States Army during World War II, was a member of American Legion Post #186, and VFW Passalaqua Post #1026. He was also a member of Atlantic County Board of Agriculture.
Surviving him are: wife, Ruth (nee Persico); son, William Jr. and his wife Paulette of Hammonton; daughters, Ann DiMeo of Mays Landing, Linda DiMeo of Egg Harbor Township; brothers, Joseph of Mt. Holly, Michael of Hammonton; grandson, William III.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on April 5 at St. Anthony Church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made to the Hammonton Rescue Squad, 300 S. Egg Harbor Road, Hammonton, NJ 08037.

Sarah C. DePalma, (nee Tomasello), 86, died April 1, 2008.
Born in Hammonton, she was a Waterford resident most of her life. Sarah worked as a presser for South Jersey Laundry retiring in 1985.
Predeceased by: husband, Dominick. Surviving her are: son, Robert and his wife Debra of Waterford; brothers, James Tomasello, John Tomasello of Hammonton; sister-in-law, Gladys Tomasello of Hammonton; two grandchildren.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on April 4 at St. Anthony Church followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Sarah’s memory to St. Anthony Church, 436 Pennington Avenue, Waterford, NJ 08089.

Kent L. Grattan, 61, of Hammonton, died March 30, 2008, at home.
Mr. Grattan worked as a painting sub contractor for several area companies. He served in the United States Navy.
Surviving him are: wife, Theresa Grattan (nee Price) of Atlantic City; son, Michael Grattan of Atlantic City; companion, Damon Nettles of Hammonton; several brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held on April 1 at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery.

Mary Lou Bacher, 46, of Washington Township, died April 1, 2008, after fighting a 10-year battle against cancer with tremendous courage and dignity.
Mary Lou worked as a nurse for the Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital for many years. She was known for her compassionate and caring nature with her patients.
Surviving her are: husband, David; daughters Nicole and Dana Bacher; step daughter, Angela Bacher; parents, Daniel and Evelyn Franchetti of Hammonton; brother, Daniel Franchetti; sister, Kimberly Rudnesky, all of Hammonton; mother-in-law, Betty Bacher; nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.
Services were held earlier this week at the Egizi Funeral Home in Washington Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Lou’s memory to the Dana A. Bacher Educational Fund, c/o Wachovia Bank, 505 Hurffville-Crosskeys Road, Sewell, NJ 08080.

David S. Osborn, 82, of Mays Landing, died March 31, 2008, at home.
Born in Hackensack, he was an area resident for 15 years. He was retired owner-operator of Killborn TV Radio Repair in Little Ferry, N.J. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II.
Predeceased by: wife, Marie. Surviving him are: sons, Michael of Little Ferry, Eli of Weymouth Township, Greg of Richfield Park, N.J.; daughter, Tanya Martin of Elmwood Park, N.J.; sisters, Shirley Guess, Gail Siuniak of N.C., Mary Etta Kirby of Md.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Services and interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Josephine A. Gregorio, 84, of Hammonton, died March 31, 2008, in Florida.
Born in Hammonton on April 17, 1923, she was a retired seamstress from Kessler Clothing Manufacturing Co. She was a member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church and was one of the founders of the Red Hats Club, a member of the Widows Club, and the local sewing circle. She was known as “Aunt Josie” in Hammonton and was a loving mother and grandmother.
Predeceased by: husband, James T. Gregorio; daughter, Mary Ann Pinto; brothers, Cosmo Ricca, Nein Ricca. Surviving her are: son and daughter-in-law of Fla., sisters, Lillie DiFrancisco, Jenny Bruno; grandson, Christopher Pinto.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on April 16, 2008 from 7 – 9 p.m. and again on April 17 from 9 a.m. at the Landolfi Funeral Home. Catholic funeral services will be on April 17 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Yvonne Roldan, 48, of Hammonton, died March 29, 2008, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Born in New York City, she lived in Hammonton most of her life. Yvonne was a social worker with the Juvenile Justice Commission in Egg Harbor.
Predeceased by: mother, Julia Roldan. Surviving her are: father, Antulio Roldan Sr. of Puerto Rico; brothers, Richard Roldan and his wife Amy of Huron, Ohio, Antulio Roldan Jr. of Vineland; sister, Arlene Roldan and her husband Michael Pullano of Sicklerville; nieces and nephews, Raegan Roldan, Riley Roldan, Jeremy Roldan, Melissa Roldan, Garrett Roldan.
Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on April 2 at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Donations may be made to any Catholic Youth Organization.

Elwood C. Heggan, 82, of Hammonton, died March 30, 2008, at his residence.
Born in Bates Mills, N.J., he was an area resident all his life. He was a retired land surveyor, a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II, and a member of the VFW Post of Berlin, N.J. Mr. Heggan served as Lieutenant on the Winslow Police Force. He was president of Winslow Township school board for 20 years and served for more than 30 years.
Surviving him are: wife, Gladys M. (nee Storey); son, Theodore and his wife Cindy of Forked River; daughter, Ellen Curcio and her husband Frank of Braddock; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing tonight after 6:30 p.m. and again on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on April 3 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
