To the Editor:
As you wake up in the morning, the days are
getting longer, the temperature is getting a
little warmer, and positive change is all around
us. Because of Hammonton Pride and the hard work
of everyone in the community, our town is being
transformed into the place everyone wants to
live, work, and play. If you travel around South
Jersey, you will hear people saying how they
drove through our town and how great it looks.
As the song goes, “ba ba baby - you ain’t seen
nothin yet.” The Industrial Park will soon
explode with the creation of jobs at the
soon-to-be-built New Jersey Manufacturer’s
Insurance. The White Horse Pike is about to see
a ratable expansion not seen in Hammonton’s
history and our downtown will not only see
ground breaking of the renovation project of
Eagle Theatre, the reconstruction of Vine Street
and Second Streets, but the opening of the long
awaited new town hall.
Yes, I am finally announcing that the old town
hall will close on April 29 at 4:30pm and the
new town hall will open on Monday, May 5 at 9
a.m. Shortly after everyone moves into the new
town hall, we will demolish the old town hall
and construct parking and landscaping in its
place.
Please also remember that Hammonton Channel 13
will switch to Channel 9 on April 12. All
Hammonton meetings and announcements after April
12 will only be broadcast on Channel 9.
While no single person or group can take credit
for our town’s re-emergence, this spring our
town has been transformed into South Jersey’s
best place to live. Why? Because the people
wanted a town to be proud of, and we all worked
together to help achieve a common goal.
I would like to thank everyone who continues to
pitch in and help during this transition and
change. You’re the reason this town is a great
place to live, work and raise a family.
Hammonton Pride is alive and well.

The IRS needs your help.
Starting in May, economic stimulus payments of
up to $600 for individuals ($1,200 for married
couples) will be issued by the IRS based on 2007
tax returns. Parents also get $300 for each
eligible child.
People must file a 2007 tax return. That’s it.
But here’s where the IRS needs help. Millions of
people are eligible but may not know it. These
are certain retirees, disabled vets and low-wage
workers who normally don’t file a tax return.
This year, they must file to receive the
payments.
People can help not just the IRS but perhaps
themselves, friends or family. Help us spread
the word. People who have at least $3,000 from
wages or certain benefits from Social Security,
Railroad Retirement and Veterans Affairs may be
eligible.
They need to file a return. We’ll do the rest.
Please visit www.irs.gov for details.
