HAMMONTON—An early-morning raid
by police on a Peach Street house on April 11
led to the discovery of marijuana and cocaine,
and the arrest of a resident of the house,
Hammonton Police Chief Frank Ingemi said.
The raid occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. on
April 11 at 110 Peach St., Ingemi said.
“The police department’s detective bureau
executed a narcotics search warrant. The search
warrant was a result of a two-month
investigation into the sales and distribution of
marijuana,” Ingemi said.
Members of the Hammonton Police Department (HPD)
Emergency Response Team were used to enter the
premises, Ingemi said.
“This investigation was headed by Detective Joel
Frederico, assisted by Captain Robert Jones,
Detective Gerry Martinez, Detective John
Panarello, the Hammonton Police Department
Emergency Response Team and members of Atlantic
County Emergency Response Team Region 3, along
with myself,” Ingemi said.
Once inside the house, which sits in a
residential neighborhood about two blocks south
of Bellevue Avenue, police discovered drugs and
arrested Sergio Gonzalez, 22, a resident of the
house, Ingemi said.
“We found more than half a pound of marijuana.
The subject was charged with possession of
marijuana, possession with intent to distribute.
We also found some cocaine, so he was charged
with possession of cocaine, and possession of
cocaine with intent to distribute, as well as
possession within 1000 feet of the school,”
Ingemi said.
Gonzalez’s bail was set at $50,000 full cash by
Judge Frank Raso. The subject was detained in
the Atlantic County Jail in lieu of bail, Ingemi
said.
Ingemi said the department was working hard to
investigate crime throughout the town, and asks
all residents who see a crime of any nature to
contact the police department at 561-4000. He
complimented the members of the department on
their work.
“Everybody’s doing a good job. The patrols are
out there making arrests, and the detective
bureau is doing a good job. If you’re doing the
wrong thing, in due time, we are going to get
you,” Ingemi said.
