When Regis Philbin of “Live with
Regis and Kelly” shows up at your door on Peach
Street with a truck from Lowe’s Home Improvement
and 28 Lowe’s employees not far behind, you know
something good is about to happen.
Something good did happen, and after everything
that has happened to Kim Velardi and her family
during the recent months, maybe it’s a way of
making up for some terrible times.
Perspective/ A Sign of the Pines

Executive Director
Pinelands Commission
Democracy, many have observed, is
not a spectator sport. The same can be said of
efforts to protect the environment in New
Jersey.
Residents can take pride in knowing that their
state has successfully implemented a plan to
safeguard the unique resources of the
million-acre Pinelands area in southern New
Jersey for nearly 30 years. The New Jersey
Pinelands Commission, the agency that oversees
land-use, development and natural resource
protection in the Pinelands, remains vigilant in
its mandate to protect the region’s environment.
