HAMMONTON—During their regular
meeting of August 19, the Hammonton Board of
Education made two votes pertaining to the
assessment and removal of asbestos from the Nick
DeRosa Library at Hammonton Middle School.
According to the addendum of the agenda for the
board meeting, the following two actions were
unanimously approved by the board:
• “Resolved that the Hammonton Board of
Education ratify the email/phone poll of board
members on Thursday, July 29th and Friday, July
30, 2010 to award contract to Ahera Consultants
for the asbestos assessment, removal, inspection
and oversight at the middle school library at a
cost of $5,150.”
• “Resolved that the Hammonton Board of
Education ratify the email/phone poll of board
members on Thursday, July 29th and Friday, July
30, 2010 to award contract to Lilich Corporation
for the removal and disposal of asbestos tile
and carpet from the middle school library at a
cost of $17,400 (lowest quote).”
In other board news, the board voted on a number
of change orders for the alteration/renovation
project at the Warren E. Sooy Jr. Elementary
School.
“None of the change orders have the work done
already, except for the one we are ratifying,”
Giralo said.
The board approved the following change orders,
which increased the cost of the construction
project.
• Fasolino Contracting Corp. Change Orders, GC7
$2,510.64; GC8 $5,950.99; GC-9 $1,609.24;
(Original Fasolino Contracting Corp. Contract
including change orders GC1 to GC6
$4,273,605.11. New total including change orders
GC7 to GC9 is now $4,283,675.98.)
• DEC Electric Change Orders E20 $5,244.67; E22
$8,205.94. (Original DEC Electric Contract
including change orders E1- E19 $2,223,470.76.
Final DEC Electric Contract, including change
orders E1-E22 and ratified change order E-21
(see below) is $2,242,106.57.)
The board ratified DEC Electric Change Order
E-21 in the amount of $5,185.20, which raised
the amount of the DEC Electric Contract
(original plus change orders E-1 to E-20 was
$2,228,715.43) to a new total of $2,233,900.63.)
Giralo said the board continues to expect the
project to be on time and under budget.
Board members also approved a Shared Services
Agreement between the Hammonton Board of
Education and the Waterford Board of Education
for a Special Services Coordinator commencing
September 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011.
Board members Louis DeStefano and Johanna
Johnson were absent.
