THIS WEEK: Hammonton Wrestling—Blue Devils posted two wins last week, defeating Oakcrest 57-24 and Schalick 45-27. Vincenzo Cirillo, Michael Benedetto, Brock Weissman, Juan Urbina and Frank Italiano with pins. Big overtime win from Brandon Velez, 2-1, against Oakcrest. Against Schalick, Cirillo had a pin and Brett Stansbury won a 6-4 decision. Earlier this week faced Buena, take on Ocean City Wednesday night and Buena again on Friday.St Joseph Wrestling—Lost to Lindenwold 33-9 and New Egypt 46-18. PJ Williams a pin vs. Lindenwold and Doug Farinaccio with a decision. Against New Egypt, Gahad Hughes, Nick Melchiore and WIlliams each had pins. This week, they host Holy Spirit on Wednesday and Cedar Creek on Friday. St. Joseph Volleyball—Lost to Cedar Creek 2-0 last week, played at OLMA on Tuesday and will be at Gloucester Catholic on Wednesday before hosting Oakcrest Friday afternoon. Hammonton Volleyball—Blue Devils lost to Oakcrest 2-0 last week, opened playoffs on Monday at Clearview, scheduled to host ACIT Tuesday and play at OLMA Friday. THIS WEEK: Hammonton Wrestling—Blue Devils notch first win of the season, riding seven forfeits to a 60-12 win against Vineland. Brett Stansbury, Justin Flood and Vinny Cirillo each had pins. Earlier in the week, Hammonton lost at Lower Cape May 51-24. Flood had a pin, while Stansbury and Matt Grasso each won decisions. Devils host Oakcrest on Thursday night and visit Schalick on Friday. St. Joseph Wrestling—Wildcats lost to Millville, EHT and Pitman last week. Millville beat the Wildcats 63-9 as Anthony Cruz had a pin and Gahad Hughes also won a decision. Against EHT, Hughes and PJ Williams had pins and Luciano Mazzeo won a decision at St Joe lost 60-15. Hughes and Williams also had pins in a 70-12 loss to Pitman. St Joe is at Lindenwold Wednesday night and wrestles at New Egypt on Friday. Hammonton Volleyball—Blue Devils only played once last week, beating rival St. Joseph 2-0. Blue Devils won the opening game 25-11, then took the second 25-12. Tiffany Paretti played very well for HHS. Devils host Oakcrest Friday at 5:15. St. Joseph Volleyball—Wildcats lost to Hammonton last week and will play at Cedar Creek on Thursday. THIS WEEK: Hammonton Wrestling— Blue Devils slipped to 0-3 last week with losses to both Absegami and St. Augustine Prep. Only won a few matches. Devils are a young team that is adjusting to a tough schedule. Coach Dave Mauriello has been happy with the work ethic and is seeing progress and improvement. Went to Lower Cape May on Wednesday night and host Vineland Friday at 6 p.m.St. Joseph Wrestling—Wildcats lost to Mainland 43-18 but bounced back to beat Vineland last week. PJ Williams, Gahad Hughes, Nick Melchiore and Bryan Butkus with pins in the win. Busy week as they wrestled at Millville on Monday, at EHT on Wednesday and will host Pitman on Saturday morning. St. Joseph Volleyball—Wildcats lost to Salem Tech, Oakcrest and ACIT last week to fall to 0-5. Showing improvement. Played at EHT and at Hammonton earlier this week. Hammonton Volleyball—Fell to 0-4 with losses to OLMA and Cedar Creek. Like St. Joseph, they are still learning and lack experience. Played well in the loss to OLMA, had some chances and let a close match get away. Need to learn how to close things out. They hosted St. Joe on Tuesday.
