140th Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Video

In this lovingly-made short film, The Gazette has captured the six “F”’s that made the 140th Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel such a wonderful event: faith, family, friends, food, fellowship and fun.  During its long existence, the celebration – particularly the “Feast Day” of the 16th of July – has become a holiday filled with meaning and tradition for the tens of thousands of people who come to Hammonton each year.  On the 140th Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the event rose to a new level. The Gazette brought its film crew to document the historic day, and captured moments that are emblematic of the longest-running Italian festival in America.

Featuring videography, narration and interviews with clergy, faithful and festivalgoers by Anne Sparaco and videography by David Virgilio.

30th Red, White and Blueberry Festival Video

The 30th Red, White & Blueberry festival was held on June 26, 2016. Festivalgoers came from throughout the region, joining locals in a crowd of more than 10,000 on the grounds of Hammonton High School. The event was also one of the key moments in the yearlong celebration of the Hammonton Sesquicentennial.

Founders' Day

Founders’ Day was held on March 4, 2016, one day before the town’s actual sesquicentennial on March 5, 2016. Speeches by Mayor Stephen DiDonato, Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo and local attorney Brian Howll were among the highlights of the event, which also included performances by the Hammonton High School Marching Band and the HHS Select Choir. The event was held at New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance.

Maps of Local Landmarks

There are four main commercial districts in Hammonton: downtown, uptown, Little Italy and the Hammonton Business Park. The Gazette has created four full-color maps of the landmarks in each area of town. For the first time ever, the major landmarks of Hammonton have been collected and displayed on maps that celebrate the pride and sense of place that is evident throughout the town. The map of each area’s landmarks is accompanied by a column about that area of Hammonton.

The maps were designed by former Gazette Graphic Designer Brittany Mauro. Columns by Gazette Publisher Gabriel Donio.
