NORTHFIELD—Hammonton Little League’s 8/9/10 All-Star team fell short of a Section 4 championship last weekend, losing to Harrison Twp. 17-7 in the deciding game of the tournament.

The All-Stars won four-straight matchups to reach the championship and force a decisive final game last weekend.

After losing to Harrison Twp. 8-6 to open the double-elimination tournament, Hammonton rebounded to edge Waterford 8-7.

In that game, Joey Baglivo went 4-for-4 with four doubles and Colin Peeke added four hits in the win. On the mound, Mason Bendig went two innings, while Peeke tossed one frame and Brayden Bendig pitched the final three innings.

In its next game, Hammonton rolled past Haddon Heights 6-2 as Colin Peeke held Haddon Heights scoreless for five innings and Aiden Cianfrani and Joey Baglivo pitched in relief.

Facing elimination for the third-straight night, Hammonton won its next game, topping Haddonfield 4-2 to advance to the finals.

Once again, the All-Stars fought off elimination, posting a 6-4 win against Harrison, avenging their opening night loss and forcing Sunday night’s decisive final matchup where Hammonton lost 17-7. Harrison Twp. advances to this week’s state championships.

Hammonton, the District 16 champion, played 15 games this summer, posting a 12-3 record.
