All-Stars off to strong start

SOMERS POINT—Hammonton Little League’s All-Stars opened the District 16 tournament on June 20 with a 9-6 win against Linwood.


Colin Peeke tossed a complete game to earn the win for Hammonton, striking out five. At the plate, Peeke walked twice, doubled and drove in a pair of runs.


Brayden Bendig finished the game 3-for-4 with two tripled and four RBIs. Colton Robinson added two hits, including a double, and Mason Bendig went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Frankie Restuccio walked and doubled in the win.


In its next game on June 22, Hammonton blanked Brigantine/Ventnor 15-0.


Restuccio went three innings for the win, tossing a 1-hitter with eight strikeouts. He had two hits in the game, including a triple and drove in three.


Peeke had a hit, two walks, two RBIs and scored twice, Robinson added a triple and two runs batted in and Aiden Cianfrani tripled, drove in two and scored twice.


Brayden Bendig scored two run and Joey Baglivo added a hit and two runs.


On June 25, Hammonton played at Greater Wildwood and won 12-1.


Brayden Bendig was 3-for-3 with a double and Robinson added three hits and two runs, closing the game on the mound.


Peeke had two hits and two runs and Dom Elkin homered and drove in three. Also for Hammonton, Bryan Falciani went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. On June 27, Hammonton hosts Greater Wildwood at 7 p.m. at Hammonton Lake Park.


In other District 1 baseball action, Hammonton’s 8/9/10-year old All-Stars won a pair of games, defeating Greater Wildwood 11-1 on June 21 and Lower Cape May 10-1 on June 23. The All-Stars played at Northfield on June 26, but that game ended too late for this edition. On June 30, Hammonton hosts Stafford.


Hammonton’s 9/10/11-year old All-Stars began district play with an 8-3 win against South Cape May on June 20 and followed with a 15-1 win against Stafford on June 22. The All-Stars hosted Ocean City/Upper Twp on June 25 and will begin championship tournament play later this week.


On the softball field, Hammonton’s Little League All-Stars (11/12-yearolds) dropped games to Northfield (17-3) and Stafford Black (17-7) last week. The ended district pool play against Stafford Purple on June 25, a game that ended too late for this edition.


The 8/9/10-year old softball All-Stars began District 16 play on June 26 at Lower Cape May/Middle Twp. That game ended too late for this edition. On June 28, Hammonton hosts Northfield.
