HAMMONTON—A car was left on its side following an accident at the intersection of Fourth Street and Fairview Avenue at 8:54 a.m. on November 10, Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said.

According to Friel, vehicle number one was traveling northbound on Fairview Avenue and then failed to stop at the stop sign. The vehicle was driven by William Breckenridge, 83, of West Berlin, Friel said. His vehicle impacted with the driver’s side portion of vehicle number two, which was traveling westbound across Fairview Avenue on Fourth Street, Friel said. The impact caused vehicle two to turn over onto its passenger side, Friel said.

Vehicle number one then ran off the roadway, colliding with a utility pole, Friel said. Vehicle number two was operated by Katherine Brennan, 49, of Hammonton, Friel said. Brennan had a minor passenger in the vehicle, according to Friel. Breckenridge was transported by AtlantiCare EMS and the two occupants of vehicle number two were evaluated at the scene and released, Friel said.

Breckenridge received summonses for careless driving and failure to stop and yield right-of-way at an intersection, Friel said.

Officer Eric Pohl was the investigating officer, Friel said.
