Cuneo-Snouffer helps HHS snap losing skid

HAMMONTON—Layla Cuneo-Snouffer drove in three runs and winning pitcher Gracie Ravenkamp struck out four as Hammonton High School’s softball team snapped a six-game losing streak with a 6-3 win against ACIT on April 19.

A three-run third inning put the Blue Devils in front, and after adding two more runs in the fourth, they held off a late ACIT rally for just their second win of the season.

The six runs were the second-most Hammonton has scored in a game this season and also snapped a string of three-straight shutout losses.

Among those defeats were games against Mainland and Cedar Creek last week.

On April 16, Mainland blanked Hammonton 3-0. The Blue Devils managed just three hits in the game, two from Alexis Vellucci. Ravenkamp struck out nine in the loss.

Vineland shut out Hammonton 5-0 on April 18. Once again, the Devils were handcuffed at the plate, recording only four hits.

Earlier this week, Hammonton played at Delran but that game ended too late for this edition. On April 24, the Blue Devils host Egg Harbor Twp. at 4 p.m.
