Dr. Prasad Devineni

Dr. Raghu Krishna Prasad Devineni, 76, also lovingly known as “Dr. Prasad,” of Vineland, N.J. died on Thursday, March 18, 2021 due to complications of ALS. He was surrounded by his wife and three children when he took his last breath after a brave battle at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Prasad was born in Eluru, India and immigrated to the United States in 1973 where he completed his medical residency at Harlem Hospital in New York City. He then moved to Vineland, N.J. in 1977 where he lived with his family in the same home for 44 years.

Prasad was a well-known and much-loved figure in Hammonton, N.J. where he served his patients as a pediatrician for over 40 years. He treated generations of families in the area from his offices at 777 Professional Center. He loved being a doctor and taking care of his children. He was very fond of his co-workers and the entire Hammonton community.

Prasad also loved to cook and care for his family and friends. His generosity, kind spirit and gentle manner were felt by all who had the honor to know him. Prasad’s greatest passions were his two grandchildren, Somya and Jay who he loved with all his heart, and the Philadelphia Eagles—who he loyally followed and celebrated when they finally won big in 2018.

Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Anne Kumari Devineni; three children, Ram Devineni, Syam Devineni and his wife Pamela and Tara Devineni and her husband Praveen; two beautiful grandchildren, Somya and Jay; and devoted family and friends in both India and across the United States. Dr. Prasad will be missed and cherished.
