HAMMONTON—Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash at 3:06 a.m. on July 25, and charged a man with driving while under the influence (DWI), Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said.

The accident occurred on Marlyn Avenue when vehicle number one, a white 2014 Hyundai Elantra operated by Anthony Tucci, 22, of Hammonton, was traveling west on Marlyn Avenue and impacted with vehicle numbers two and three, which were parked cars, Friel said.

“He was traveling west on Marlyn, lost control and impacted with vehicle two, a silver 2021 Toyota Tacoma, which was pushed into the front of vehicle number three, a green 2016 Ford F-250,” Friel said.

Officer Dalton Verderame found that Tucci was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, transported him to the police department and charged him with the following motor vehicle violations: driving while under the influence; careless driving; reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane of travel, Friel said.

Tucci was released as per John’s Law pending an appearance at Hammonton Joint Municipal Court, Friel said.
