HAMMONTON—One person, whose name was not released by police, was killed as a result of an accident at the intersection of S. White Horse Pike (Route 30) and Shopping Center Drive at 5:19 p.m. on November 28, Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said, adding that an 18-year-old Winslow Twp. man is facing charges connected with the fatal accident.

“There was a fatal accident that occurred at that intersection involving two vehicles,” Friel said.

Vehicle number one, a blue 2000 Saturn, was heading westbound approaching the intersection of Route 30 and Shopping Center Drive, Friel said. Vehicle number two, a black 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, was traveling eastbound on Route 30, Friel said.

“Driver number one made a left turn in front of vehicle number two, causing vehicle number two to impact the passenger side of vehicle number one,” Friel said.

The occupants of vehicle number one were transported by ambulance for medical attention and one of the passengers in vehicle number one succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital, Friel said.

Friel said the name of the individual who died has not been released.

The driver of vehicle number one, Federico Cano, 18, of Winslow Twp. was charged with the following: operating a motor vehicle without a valid license causing an accident resulting in death. Motor vehicle charges for Cano included the following: unlicensed driver, reckless driving, careless driving and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, Friel said.

Cano was later transported to the Atlantic County Jail pending court, Friel said.
