FIGHT LEADS TO ARRESTS

HAMMONTON—Police were dispatched to the 200 block of N. Washington St. at 9:42 p.m. on March 25 for the report of a fight, Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said.


“Upon arrival, Officer Matthew Heiser observed a male subject lying on the sidewalk with blood coming from his mouth, multiple lacerations and swelling to the mouth and facial area,” Friel said.


The victim was unconscious and breathing, Friel said.


“The victim came to and identified the accused as Edison Baltazar, 22, of Hammonton.

Baltazar was found standing in front of a residence located on the 200 block of N. Washington Street, along with Julio Baltazar, 24, of Hammonton,” Friel said. his hand. Upon further questioning of the victim, he did not recall Julio Baltazar assaulting him, only Edison Baltazar, Friel said.


Julio Baltazar was found to have an NCIC warrant from Burlington County, Friel said.


Both Edison Baltazar and Julio Baltazar were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing, Friel said. Edison Baltazar was charged with simple assault, and released pending a court date in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court, Friel said. Julio Baltazar was transported to the Atlantic County Jail on the NCIC warrant, Friel said.


Friel said Heiser was the investigating and arresting officer.


This report is comprised of arrests and investigations made by the men and women of local enforcement. All suspects and arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
