WILDWOOD—Flyers Gymnastics of Hammonton captured team titles in both Gold and Diamond divisions at the National Gymnastics Association (NGA) championships, held May 28 at the Wildwood Convention Center.
In addition to their pair of team titles, Flyers gymnasts brought home 12 individual gold medals at the event.
Flyers Gold Team scored a 111.225 to take first place with the combination of the top three highest performances on vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. Senior Gold athlete, Laura Selzer, 13, lead the Flyers, winning the all-around title with a 37.4 and gold medals on vault (9.3), bars (9.525) and beam (9.2).
Teammates in the Junior Gold division brought home the win with the following athletes top routines: Hailey Wormley, 9, first on bars, 9.4 and Grace Petrosh, 10, first on floor, 9.575.
Silver medalists included Amya Ortiz, bars, 9.25 and Gemma DiMarco, vault, 8.85.
Diamond team champions was a Flyers trio who also brought home individual medals. Nina Scaffidi took first on bars with a 9.575 and also won on beam. Tatiana Blough was first on floor (9.6) and Kylie Amelung finished third bars (9.0).
Flyers’ Lia Perone, 15, won the Platinum Division all-around champion title, scoring a 36.425, along with silver medals on vault, bars, and beam. Platinum teammate Colleen Reitmeyer was golden on vault with a 9.25, won on beam with a 9.25 and claimed an all-around silver (36.1). Milan Fierro brought home a silver medal on vault with a 9.075.
