HAMMONTON—Police made several arrests last week, including three separate and unrelated driving while under the influence (DWI) arrests, Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said.
• On March 26 at 12:20 a.m., a motor stop became a DWI arrest at the intersection of Passmore Avenue and Grand Street, Friel said.
Friel said Officer John Amendolia III observed a vehicle failing to maintain a lane of travel and failing to stop.
According to Friel, Eluver Ramirez-Verdugo, 30, of Hammonton was found to be intoxicated, placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters for processing and charged with the following motor vehicle violations: Driving while under the influence, unsafe lane change, disregard of stop sign, reckless driving, open container of alcoholic beverage in a vehicle, consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, no seat belt, unlicensed driver, unregistered vehicle, careless driving, fictitious plates and failure to exhibit documents.
He was released as per John’s Law pending a court appearance in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court, Friel said.
Friel said Amendolia was the investigating, arresting and charging officer.
• On March 26 at 3:13 a.m. on the 300 block of S. White Horse Pike (Route 30), Officer Dalton Scola witnessed a vehicle failing to maintain a lane of travel, Friel said.
The vehicle was operated by Charles Larkey, 39, of Malaga, Friel said. Larkey was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters for processing and charged with the following motor vehicle violations: driving while under the influence, careless driving, reckless driving, open container of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and failure to maintain lane of travel, Friel said.
Larkey was released as per John’s Law pending a court appearance in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court, Friel said.
Friel said Scola was the investigating, arresting and charging officer.
• On March 27 at 3:52 a.m., a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of 12th Street and West End Avenue became a DWI arrest, Friel said.
Officer Dalton Scola observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel and failing to stop, Friel said.
The driver of the vehicle, Cristobal Carranza-Lopez, 25, of Hammonton was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, Friel said.
Friel said Carranza-Lopez was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters for processing and charged with the following motor vehicle violations: driving while under the influence, careless driving, reckless driving, failing to maintain lane, disregard of stop sign and failure to possess insurance card, Friel said.
He was released as per John’s Law pending a court appearance in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court, Friel said.
Friel said Scola was the investigating, arresting and charging officer.
