Friel warns residents about mailbox safety

HAMMONTON—On May 6 Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel warned Hammonton that the mailboxes still have had issues and to please do not place outgoing mail in external mailboxes with the postal service until the situation has been corrected.

Friel has spoken with the local post office as their reporting agency is the postal inspectors. The USPS is attempting to make cases on what they already have pending.

The warning issued from Friel is to inform people that the external mailboxes are still not a safe and secure option at this time. Friel said the preferred way to address outgoing mail is to put it inside the postal office or hand it to one of their letter carriers on their route.
