Hammontonians, please help me with my summer reading

So Hammonton, what are you reading this summer?

I am ready to receive your recommendations as I am at a loss.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is on my must-read list thanks to Gianna G. and I currently have it on hold. According to the library app I am using, it will be about seven weeks.

I also have Butler to the World on hold. That will be about eight weeks.

Did I mention that I have a Nora Roberts book on hold.  That will be here in 12 weeks or so.

So what should I read until those books arrive on my Kindle?

Yes, I am a Kindle person. I am trying to be more thoughtful in my book purchases.

There is only so much room in our home and now I am only buying physical books from authors that I love and books I know I will reread.

Do you have any KindleUnlimited books you recommend?

How about a classic that maybe I have forgotten?

I reread Jane Austen’s Persuasion recently since Netflix is making their own version.

And speaking of Netflix, I have been totally smitten with The Lincoln Lawyer. Thanks Jay M. for the idea.

So now I want to read the 2005 book of the same name by crime writer Michael Connelly.

I do have Here’s the Deal by Kellyanne Conway. I have started it and I am reading it in-between fiction reading. Thank you to the many local people who suggested it.Too many to mention here.

It is outside my normal reading but since she has family in town, I feel I should read her book and learn more about her and her thought processes.

I wish I was better about reading nonfiction, but I love the new worlds fiction books create in my mind.

Easy reading is my jam. Or anything Harry Potter-related. I love revisiting Hogwarts and Diagon Alley and spending time with my witch and wizard friends.

I have tried some of the books recommended on social media. But some of those books are NSFW (not safe for work) and make me blush.

Should I follow Reese Witherspoon’s book club? I don’t know. I have read some of Oprah Winfrey’s selections. They were OK.

Help me, Hammonton. I read three to four books per week depending on their heaviness.

Help me stop spending time on Reddit. I can lose hours just reading all the different threads on there.

Do you have a favorite author? A genre? Let me know.

I love fiction and I dislike sad endings. Real life is sad enough. Give me a Hollywood ending in a book to help me forget all the negativity in the world around us.

What’s a beach read? I don’t enjoy sitting in the sand but maybe I would like a beach read? Any suggestions for me in the world of beach reads?

Please send your ideas to me at grullo@hammontongazette.com.Thanks in advance.

And let’s have a debate.

Does listening to audiobooks count as reading a book? I listen to audiobooks a lot at work. It is very soothing and allows me to focus on work.

Let me know your true, unabridged opinions on this important topic.

As I type this, I am listening to a book.

So does it count?
