A well-established dermatology practice opened its newest facility in Hammonton.

Located in Sail Lake at 640 S. White Horse Pike, Heymann, Manders, Green & Sommer (HMGS) Dermatology opened its doors to the public on August 16.

According to Suzanne Hauswald, Administrative Director for HMGS Dermatology, the practice has been in business for close to 40 years.

“Dr. Warren Heymann started the practice in 1984 in Marlton and a Camden location on the Cooper [University] Hospital campus ... HMGS has run the dermatology residency program at Cooper for the last 35 years,” Hauswald said.

Along the way, Heymann partnered with Dr. Steven Manders, Dr. Justin Green and Dr. Lacy Sommer. Additional providers in the practice include Dr. Camille Introcaso, Dr. Donald Baker and, most recently, Dr. Patrick McMahon.

“We are excited to introduce our newest physician, Patrick J. McMahon, M.D., from CHOP [Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia], who is double-boarded in general and pediatric dermatology and a highly regarded expert in the pediatric dermatology,” Hauswald said.

Additionally, the practice has two physician’s assistants, Julianna Jarvis and Christina Cammarata.

HMGS Dermatology’s team specializes in comprehensive care for a wide variety of dermatological conditions. Some medical options offered include 5-fluorouracil therapy, accutane (isotretinoin) therapy, biologic treatments, patch testing and more. Surgical options can be for treat atypical mole excision, cyst removal, lipoma removal, skin cancer excision and stretched or torn earlobe repair.

HMGS Dermatology also provides cosmetic dermatology for aesthetic needs—including BOTOX, Kybella and chemical peels— as well as pediatric services for children and young adults.

Hauswald said that HMGS Dermatology offers “state-of-the-art technology, including phototherapy and excimer laser.”

“Excimer laser is for the treatment of psoriasis, vitiligo and other skin conditions in targeted areas. Phototherapy is for the treatment of eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo and other skin conditions of the full body,” Hauswald said.

Additionally, to help ensure the safety of their patients in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), HMGS Dermatology has posted a policy on their website that any patient who is sick or experiencing flu-like symptoms, or who may have been exposed to someone with influenza or COVID-19, will not be allowed to enter the office.

“We are screening all patients via phone and at the door of our office. Patients with risk factors for COVID-19, temperature greater than 100 F or signs and symptoms of illness will have their appointments rescheduled. Per CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] recommendations, all patients entering the office must wear their own facemask or cloth face covering. Exceptions only for children younger than 2 years of age,” the policy states.

All exam rooms are thoroughly disinfected between each patient.

“All ‘high-touch’ surfaces including waiting areas, exam rooms and staff workspaces are cleaned numerous times throughout the day,” the policy states.

Hauswald said that opening an office in Hammonton has helped to better meet the needs of their patients.

“Our decision to expand to Hammonton was to better serve the patients who have trusted our care from Hammonton and the surrounding Jersey shore communities, and to offer exceptional medical dermatology services to new patients in Atlantic County,” Hauswald said.

Hauswald said that the Hammonton location will be open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will be staffed with their professional team of board-certified doctors and experienced physician assistants.

The response to HMGS Dermatology’s office in Hammonton, Hauswald said, has been great.

“Patients are excited to have a medical focused dermatology practice in the area,” Hauswald said.
