Lena Moffa



Lena Moffa (nee Giordano), 102, of Elm, N.J. passed away peacefully on her birthday at home with her daughters by her side.


Lena was born in Philadelphia and raised in Hammonton. She was a graduate of Hammonton High School in 1937. Lena worked for Hammonton Park Clothing Company for many years as a seamstress and was a member of the Amalgamated Union.


Lena was devoted to her faith. She was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish and served on the St. Joseph School P.T.A. She loved to watch wrestling with her grandson Michael, watch the New York Yankees with her grandson David and enjoyed working in her garden with her granddaughter Lindsey.


Lena is predeceased by her husband, Michael Moffa; parents, James and Angelina Giordano; son-in-law, David Rizzotte Jr.; grandson, David Rizzotte III; her brothers, Samuel and Thomas Giordano; and sisters, Grace Tell and Millie Pizzico.


Surviving are her two daughters, LeeAnn Ruggiero and her husband Roy of Hammonton, N.J. and Michele Rizzotte of Hammonton, N.J. and sister-in-law Joyce Giordano of Phoenix. She is the loving grandmother of Lindsey Ruggiero Medio (Scott) and Michael Rizzotte (Jamie) and great-grandmother of Nina and Lucas Rizzotte and Harrison Medio.


Family and friends attended her viewing Tuesday, September 7 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. Third St. Hammonton, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish – St. Joseph Church 3rd & French Streets Hammonton, N.J. Burial followed in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 124 S. First Rd. Hammonton, N.J. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or donors@st.jude.org.
