HAMMONTON—A man said he was going to tear the call box off the wall outside the Hammonton Police Department’s Dispatch at Hammonton Town Hall—and then proceeded to do it, Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said. The crime occurred at 3:10 p.m. on February 14 at the town hall, located at 100 Central Ave., Friel said.

“We had a subject who was unhappy with an answer from the police department to a question that he had. He said he was going outside to break the call box off the wall,” Friel said.

Anthony Hall, 27, of Hammonton, kicked the service call box, located on the outside of town hall, causing it to dislodge and hang from a wire, Friel said.

The call box is located outside the doorway to the Hammonton Police Department Dispatch, Friel said.

Hall was taken into custody, processed and charged with criminal mischief, Friel said.

Officer Richard Brown III is the investigating and arresting officer, Friel said, adding that Hall was released pending an appearance in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court.
