Marjorie L. Gosney

Marjorie L. Gosney (nee Gurney), 99, of Hammonton, N.J. passed away peacefully Thursday, August 19, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Boston. After graduating from Newton High School, Marjorie enlisted in the U.S. Navy (Waves) as a Special Recruiter Second Class during World War II. She met her Army husband of 53 years at a military dinner in Baltimore. Marjorie worked many years as a part-time bookkeeper. She retired from John S. Sabatino Architects in Philadelphia. As a member of the Presbyterian Church of Hammonton, Marjorie was active in the Hand Bell choir and the personnel and finance committees. Marjorie loved to travel especially to New Zealand to visit family. She was an accomplished artist and painted many family pictures. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing cards.

She is predeceased by her husband, Luther S. Gosney; her son, Charles L. Gosney; and parents, Walter and Lucy Gurney.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Gary B. Gosney and his wife Lee of Leland, N.C. and her daughter, Elizabeth E. Mazzone of Hammonton, N.J.

She is the loving grandmother of Judi Gosney (David Smith), Michael Gosney (Cristy), Lois Gosney (Robin Doddridge), Matthew Gosney, Gary Mazzone, Benjamin Gosney and Adam Gosney. She is the great-grandmother of Jessica Smith, Ryan Smith, Angus Doddridge, Ava Doddridge and Owen Gosney.

The family will be having a private burial and celebration of Marjorie’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Marjorie to the Presbyterian Church at Hammonton, 326 Bellevue Ave. Hammonton, NJ 08037.
