Barton D. Gelles, 65, of Hammonton, N.J. passed away Saturday August 26, 2023 at AtlantiCare in Pomona, N.J. He was born in Atlantic City, N.J. and has been a resident of Hammonton for over 41 years. Bart graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1976, became a chef in the casinos of Atlantic City before working at Whitehall-Robins and Ocean Yachts later was owner-operator at B. Gelles Construction. He was also a dedicated fireman to the Hammonton community for 33 years at Company #2 and also prior served an additional eight years with the Nesco Fire Dept. being President for the last three years.
Bart is predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Joy Gelles; and survived by his wife, Deborah (Amedio); son, Dane; brother, David Gelles (Marina); his sister, Kimberly DeMaggio (Edward); his nieces, Erica, Brooke, and Francesca; his nephew, Jeffery; along with the many cousins and fellow firefighters that became his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Wednesday August 30, 2023 from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. Third Street Hammonton, N.J. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a private cremation.
