Obituary - Antonietta La Mazza


Antonietta La Mazza (nee Giacoppo)

Antonietta La Mazza (nee Giacoppo) passed away in Austin, Texas at the age of 89 yrs. and 11 months surrounded by family. Antonietta was a resident of a town she fiercely loved for 60 years, her new home, Hammonton. She came to live here with her husband Nino and her three children. She came to join her family in N.J. from Messina, Sicily Italy in 1966. She was a devout catholic and had a deep devotion to Padre Pio, Antonietta was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s/ Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish. She worked as a tailor/seamstress at William B Kessler, Ubia and Castelfor Clothing. Antonietta was a good worker and a friend to all she met. Always caring and giving of her time, opening her home to all her friends. She especially loved her family. A lovely, sweet, gentle soul that graced our lives. Full of energy, she loved to cook celebrating her Italian heritage. She loved all that was green, and it was reciprocated. Her plants were larger than most.


She is predeceased by her husband, Antonino La Mazza; her parents, Caterina, and Antonino Giacoppo; her in laws, Gaetano and Antonietta La Mazza; Siblings, Caterina, Giuseppe, Santino, Placido; son- in- law, Jerry Breitzman. She is survived by her children, Guy La Mazza (Loretta), Tina Breitzman, and Cathy La Mazza (Marvin); grandchildren, Melissa (Brett) and Anton John (Kate) Mike; and great grandchildren, Jordan Jeri, Kristi, Marylin, Veda, and Jack. Sister-in- laws, Flavia La Mazza, Sarina La Mazza, Georgia La Mazza; and brother-in-law, Cosmo La Mazza; and many loving nieces and nephews.


We will always be grateful for her love and laughter which she gave to us. Antonietta knew how to tell and share stories. She was the life of our family parties. Her family now honors and celebrates her as she passes to her new life. Relatives and friends were invited to attend her viewing Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. Third St. Hammonton, NJ 08037. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish St. Joseph Church Third & French Streets Hammonton, N.J. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 248 S. First Rd. Hammonton, NJ 08037.
