Cosimo Ricca Jr.

Cosimo Ricca Jr., 62, of Hammonton, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, N.J., with his loving family by his side. He was a lifelong resident of Hammonton, and a 1979 graduate of Hammonton High School.

Cosimo spent his earliest years working at Vet’s Sunrise Bakery, his father’s business, where making donuts was his speciality.

After its closure in the early 2000s, Cosimo brought his passion for baking to ShopRite in Williamstown, N.J., before deciding to reopen the family business under its new name, Ricca’s Italian Bakery, which consistently earned the local “Best of the Best” award. He took great pride in his family tradition, and poured his heart and soul into that undertaking.

He enjoyed simple pleasures in life, including spending time with his family, trips to Dunkin’ Donuts and in its day, Hometown video store. In his youth he enjoyed raising pigs, and later developed an interest in scrapping metal. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, and loved the Eagles, but most especially the Phillies.

Cosimo will be remembered most for his generosity and his devotion to his family.

He is predeceased by his father, Cosimo Ricca. He is survived by his loving children, Rachel Ricca (Bryan Gleason), and Cosimo M. Ricca; his two grandchildren, Rylee and Brielle, who were the loves of his life; his mother, Dolores Ricca (nee Christopher); his siblings, Joseph Ricca, his identical twin brother, Michael Ricca (Jill), Maria Ricca Salvatore (Joe), Robert Ricca (Tracey), Thomas Ricca (Mary Jo); his former wife and mother of his children, Kellie Ricca; and many nieces and nephews, especially his Godson, Anthony.

Services were held Tuesday, August 6, 2024 and Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
