Now that Election Day has passed and as the year winds down I want to circle back and talk about the new program offered by the Atlantic County Clerk’s Office.
The program is simply called Property Alert. You and only you can protect your property.
Please take time and register today. In recent years, scammers have acted with increased sophistication. Fraudulent deed, mortgages and even property liens could be recorded without your knowledge for months or even years.
With this service, you the property owner will receive instant electronic notifications via email anytime a document is recorded in your name at the Atlantic County Clerk’s Office. It’s important to protect your most valuable asset. Enrollment into our free Property Alert can only be done by you, it can be done by going to our website atlanticcountyclerk.org.
Follow the prompt that says Property Alert Services. The process is simple. You have to answer the questions that are asked of you. You will need to create a username and password to begin the process.
You will then receive a confirmation email. At this point you should put as many variations of your name as possible. For example my legal name is Joseph, but I go by Joe, Joey, Joseph J. etc.
The more ways you cover your name the broader the coverage will be. One would be surprised if you checked the records just how your names are registered on many different recorded documents. Once again this is a free service offered by the clerk’s office. Keep in mind that more than one persons name can be listed on a property. List all names.
Lastly what recorded documents are included in an alert notification? An alert will be sent when any document matching the registered parameters of party name or parcel data. It is my sincere hope that many of our county residents will take advantage of this program and protect their property today. If you should experience any difficulties in the process please contact my office at (609) 625-4011.
At this time on behalf of myself and my staff we would like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season. I look forward to reporting to you in January the changes that took place at the clerk’s office this past year.
