Perspective: Fifth District

As many of us begin thinking about warm weather, the spring season and plans for this summer, I’m encouraged by so many of the positive things happening here in Atlantic County and in the Fifth District.

This past November you maintained your faith in me and reelected me as an Atlantic County Commissioner and I’m grateful for your trust. In my time on the Board of Commissioners I’m proud of the work we have done alongside our team working with County Executive Dennis Levinson. During these past 11 years as a then Freeholder, now Commissioner I’ve experienced many milestones in my own life as well. Both of my daughters are now married, and are starting families of their own. In fact, in a few short months I’ll be a grandfather for the first time. So lately, I’ve been in a reflective mood. I’ve thought a lot about the work we’ve done for the Fifth District, but there is still so much left to do.

During the next few months, I’ll be communicating more frequently with all of you to provide updates on some of the great things the county government is providing and what we can look forward to down the road. As always, I want to be there for you when you need help. You can reach me any time at (609) 839-5786. Call or text me day or night. I work for you, and I’m on the job 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Finally, as we enter the season of spring, I want to wish our growers a bountiful harvest, and am hopeful that our wineries, breweries and small businesses here in the western end can benefit from reduced COVID-19 restrictions and get back to normal. As always, I’ll do whatever it takes to support your health and success.

Yours in service,

Jim Bertino
