Chief: Woman arrested for taking vehicle

HAMMONTON—A 26-year-old woman was arrested and charged with the theft of a rental vehicle she rented from an establishment on the prime block of Front Street, Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said.
The theft was reported to police on February 26 at 8:28 a.m., Friel said.
“A vehicle was taken from a rental car company. A representative of the company said that Jillian Vogelman, 26, from Egg Harbor City took a 2020 black Chevy Equinox from the business. The vehicle was entered in stolen and the investigating officer, Officer Christopher Henshaw, contacted Onstar, which provided the coordinates of the motor vehicle,” Friel said.
The vehicle was located in Hamilton Twp., Friel said, and Hamilton Twp. Police located the vehicle, which was occupied by Vogelman when police arrived. Hamilton Twp. Police turned her over to Henshaw, and she was transported to police headquarters for processing, Friel said.
Friel said Vogelman was charged with motor vehicle theft. She was released pending a court date in Atlantic County Superior Court in Mays Landing.
Henshaw was the investigating and arresting officer, Friel said.
