Signing Day for Blue Devils


THG/Dan Russoman. To purchase photos in The Gazette, call (609) 704-1940. Hammonton High School seniors Emma Peretti, Alexa Panagopoylos, Maria Berenato and Jadyn Barker announced their college decisions last week.

HAMMONTON—Four Hammonton High School student athletes announced their college plans at a short ceremony held at the school last week.


Alexa Panagopoylos, Jadyn Barker, Emma Peretti and Maria Berenato all made their commitments official during the ceremony.


Berenato, a four-year starter for Hammonton’s field hockey team, will attend Immaculata University. In 2022, she scored six goals and added seven assists to help Hammonton finish with a 13-4-2 record and a berth in the Cape Atlantic League championship game. For her career, Berenato registered 19 goals and 16 assists for the Blue Devils.


Peretti will attend Yale University as a member of its track and field team. The senior thrower holds Hammonton’s record in the discus and has earned trips to the state Meet of Champions the last two spring seasons.


Barker and Panagopoylos will each play softball in college.


Barker batted .385 last season, with a double, three triples and 10 runs scored. She will attend Saint Elizabeth University.


Panagopoylos is heading to Siena College. Hammonton’s third baseman batted .487 in 2022, collecting a team-high 38 hits. She also led the Blue Devils in runs (32), home runs (8) and runs batted in (34).
