CAPE MAY COURTHOUSE—Freshman Cassidy Perri scored 13 points and junior Brielle Hutchison added seven, but St. Joseph Academy’s girls basketball team fell short in a 35-26 loss at Cape May Tech, capping a winless week for the Wildcats, whose record fell to 1-9.

Tech led 12-8 at the end of the first quarter, and a 6-3 run in the second gave the Hawks an 18-11 halftime advantage. St. Joe was never able to work its way back into the game, as its losing streak reached five games.

St. Joseph opened last week’s action with a 52-29 loss at Bridgeton. Brianna Bailey led the Wildcats with seven points in the loss, and Katie Dainton added six.

Next came a 36-24 loss at Buena, as the host Chiefs avenged a loss earlier this season to the Wildcats.

Also last week, St. Joseph fell at Vineland, 58-17. Perri led the Wildcats with 12 points.

Earlier this week, St. Joe played games at both Our Lady of Mercy Academy and Hammonton, but those games ended too late for this edition. On March 3, St. Joe visits Pleasantville at 4 p.m.
