MULLICA HILL—The Hammonton Stingrays visited the Raccoon Valley Masked Bandits at the Raccoon Valley Swim Club in Mullica Hill on Saturday, July 1 for their second swim meet of the summer season.
Across the 67 official events, the Hammonton Stingrays had 70 swimmers competing in the meet compared to a much larger Raccoon Valley team. The Masked Bandits won the meet by a final score of 353 to 209.
Swimming in 48 individual events, Hammonton had 15 first-place finishes (75-points), 17 second-place finishes (51 points), 23 third-place finishes (23 points). Individual first-place finishers included (# events won): Everly Husta (3); Massimo Catania (2); Raelynn McDowel (2); Eli Johannsen (2); Madison Carley (1); Kellen Frankel (1); Grace Gribbin (1); Macy McDowel (1); Scotlyn Pace (1); and Kylie Short (1). Also, many Hammonton swimmers improved upon their season-to-date times, as there were 54 swimmers showing improved, personal-best times in the meet across 113 different events that each competed in, compared to results from prior events this season.
Across the 19 relay events Hammonton had 4 first-place finishes. First-place finishers in the relay events included (event): Raelynn McDowel, Cole McDowel, Eli Johannsen, Kellen Frankel (mixed, 8 and under, 100-meter medley); Cole McDowel, Nathan Reedy, Eli Johannsen, Kellen Frankel (boys, 8 and under, 100-meter freestyle); Dominic Cushinotto, Sean Falciani, Colton Castone, Charlie Rieder (boys, 9-10, 200-meter freestyle); and Giovanni Catania, Anthony Bova, John Paul Mazza, Massimo Catania (mixed, 15-18, 200-meter freestyle).
The Stingrays return to action on Saturday, July 8, when they host the Deerwood Tritons (from Westampton Township, NJ) at the Hammonton Swim Club.
