HAMMONTON—A man was arrested at 4:14 a.m. on February 13 on the 100 block of S. Washington Street, Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said.

Police received a call in reference to a subject who was taking items out of a motor vehicle, Friel said.

The accused subject was found sitting on the ground in the roadway, Friel said.

Friel said the homeowner had walked outside to make his way to work and observed the male near the vehicle.

The subject was Fredi B. Ayala, 21, of Lindenwold, Friel said.

“In speaking with him there was a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath, and he stated he thought he was in Vineland and wanted to get home,” Friel said.

Ayala was found to have two outstanding warrants, one for $800 from Berlin Borough and one for $1,000 from Lindenwold, Friel said.

Friel said he was placed under arrest, processed and released on his own recognizance after sober pending court appearances.

Officer Travis Hoffman was the arresting officer, Friel said.
