Hello readers and Happy New Year! As we embark on a new year, NovaCare wishes you a happy and healthy January. This month marks the start of new year resolutions, which range from new business opportunities, hobbies, self-care, diet changes, more discipline and consistency with working out, etc.

NovaCare would like to provide you with a few quick tips to help you if you are working out for the first time or are resuming after an extended break:

1. Pick a time of day that will allow you to be most consistent

2. Start slowly and progress over time

3. Get a workout buddy if consistency is hard

4. Start with home workouts if driving to the gym is time consuming

5. Trial classes that are fun to you such as dance, Zumba or cycling

Consistent physical activity can help to reduce anxiety, decrease stress, lower blood pressure and a multitude of other positive benefits. If you are hesitant and unsure where you should start, ask a healthcare professional to assist you. The most important thing with physical activity is staying safe.
