Weekly DiDonato’s bowling highlights

For years the Bowling scores were printed daily when I started a Men’s League in 1970. Weekly in the 1980s and finally gone in the early 21st century and now for the first time in almost two decades you can read them here every week. I urge you to read the Bowling Report last every week.

Now let's go bowling :

It was Rick Rogers birthday last week and as birthdays go it's a celebration and a good night to have fun. Rick took it an extra step—in the 10 years of our league there have only been about nine scores that reached the plateau Rick did on September 19. He rolled 255 and after that he would only miss two more times. He missed in Frame 1, game 2 and frame 10 the last ball in game 3. In between Rick would toss 22, yes 22, strikes in a row! He added 290 and 298 for an unheard of, or in this case, a very rare 843 series. What a birthday present for my buddy Rick! I guess here is where I insert “Happy Birthday!” I think it was.

Now to the 700s:

Stayo ( Mike Costello ) another Big night 276, 264 and 209 for 749; Rich Preuster another big night also 287, 278 and 734; Matt Callo ( I told you he was heating up last week ) 255, 234, 242 for 731; Diesel (Mike D'Ambra) the last 700 this week, 218, 278 and 207 for a nice 703 series.

The 600 sereis: Steverrz ( Steve Costello) 239, 223 and 647; Tim Bowden with a new high game and high series for his career and he has been on fire as he rolled 272 and a 202 for a 200 pins over his average series of 649. Proud Father Butch got the measure of him tonight though with 256, 227 and 673; King of Bowling (Chris Calascione) 200, 243 and 234 for 677 and wait ‘til he gets hot. Robert Mattern 230, 208 and 606; Little Nu ( Chris Nugent ) with 219, 216 and 624; Gary Doan a big night 266, 229 and 683!

Bill Alber 218, 232 and 604; Paul Kaiser last week’s top bowler 201, 221 and 220 for 642; Jerome Davis with 216, 238 and 632; Mike Parker 248, 243 and 624. Last but certainly not least is a young man who can motivate this old man who can barely get around to get around and bowl him. Sean Alber with the high game in our league tonight as he was perfect in game 2—300 and a 639 series. Bravo Sean.

Let’s check the standings after three weeks:

NJ Curveball leads at 9-3

S Team is 7 1/2 & 4 1/2

Tricklayimlaryan 7-5

Bowden-Smith 7-5

I Can’t Believe I Ate The Whole Thing also 7-5.

Next week’s tournament will be the first of the season and first of seven tournaments within the league before culminating with our year end Grand Tournament where everyone wins. The first one is themed for the Phillies the NL East Champs: It’s Buy a Bowling Pin for a dollar. I think you'll love it. Thursday night September 26 right after the league is over we start on Lane 7.

And now let’s finish with some more scores: 200 games: Layla Maciejewski hats off to this wonderful young lady with her first 200 of the season a beautiful 203; Stinger ( Steve Hahn ) with an even 200; Kevin Kenny with a 214; Paul Capone with a big 254; Kial Purnell with 203 and 210.

Kyle Gilbert with a 224; Yours truly rounds out the night with 216, 225 and a DNF on game 3.

Next week is a big week for our league as we will have three division prizes for the Phillies Monthly Tournament. Wear your Phillies garb if you'’ like I’m going to have my own Phillies garb on throughout the night if someone shares something with me.

All positive every week on the Bowling Report.

Have a wonderful week everyone and I’ll see you next week after the tournament!

Go Phils.
