Seven HHS athletes choose colleges

HAMMONTON—Seven Hammonton High School student athletes announced their college commitments last week in a brief ceremony held at the school.


Michael Gehres, Brett Stansbury, Ava Livingston, Giada Palmieri, Kaylie Ranere, Carter Bailey and Tyler Lowe each announced where they will continue their athletic and academic careers.

Gehres, a three-year starter for Hammonton’s boys soccer team, will attend Alvernia University in the fall. Stansbury, a stellar wrestler for the Blue Devils, is headed to Camden County College, while Livingston, who helped Hammonton’s softball team win the 2021 South Jersey Group 3 championship, will play at Penn State University-Abington.


Palmieri, a three-year starter in girls basketball, announced that she will attend Widener University. Ranere, an All-Cape Atlantic League selection in field hockey, will play at Mansfield University.


Bailey, an All-South Jersey selection in boys soccer, announced he will play at Stockton University next fall. Lowe, another standout soccer player, will also continue his career at Stockton.


“We’re very blessed to have so many standout athletes and we wanted to do something to help recognize all their achievements. Not many athletes have the opportunity to go on an play in college, and as a program, we’re very proud of all of them,” Hammonton athletic director Chris Sacco said.
