Wildcats off to slow start

HAMMONTON—Egg Harbor Twp. used a pair of four-run rallies to hand St. Joseph Academy’s baseball team its second-straight loss on April 6, defeating the Wildcats 12-1 at Hammonton Lake Park.

The visiting Eagles scored once in the first inning, then added four runs in the second and three in the third before sealing the win with a four-run rally in the top of the fourth.


DJ Williams drove in four runs for EHT, while Troy Sabott earned the win, allowing a run on three hits.


Nick Melchiore had two hits and Jack Cassidy added a single for the Wildcats.


Liam Hurley took the loss for St. Joe.


On April 5, St. Joe opened the season with a 10-0 loss to Haddon Heights. Gavin Steiner took the loss.


Earlier this week, St. Joseph played a pair of games against Cedar Creek that ended too late for this edition. The Wildcats return to play on April 10 when they host Winslow at 4 p.m.
