HAC’s Jersey Shore exhibition winners announced

The Hammonton Arts Center announced the winners of the Jersey Shore exhibition, sponsored by Jersey Shore Federal Credit Union. The judges were Justin and Zee from Jersey Shore Federal Credit Union. The comments below were made by them when judging the artwork.


WORKS IN 2D


• First Place: Brenda Bradford, Atlantic City, Acrylic; “Perfectly showcases the theme of ‘Jersey Shore.’ Great use of color to break up the sections of the piece. Very well composed.”


• Second Place: Elizabeth Domenico, Pine Barrens, Oil on Canvas; “Great use of oil paints.

You can really see the mark making and brush strokes. They give life to the painting.”


• Third Place: Ed Garvey, Atlantic City, Pen, ink, pastel, color pencil; “Very fun and nostalgic piece! The line work is very neat and the colors are cohesive. Stylized but very professional.”


• Honorable Mention: Barbara Grace, At the Shore, Oil.


• Honorable Mention: Michael McGrane, Cape May Lighthouse, Acrylic.


• Honorable Mention: Stephen Tullio, Rocks at Longport Beach, Acrylic.


• Honorable Mention: Charles Branigan, On the Beach, IPad Drawing.

PHOTOGRAPHY


• First Place: Ruth Nyce, Guiding Light; “Extremely unsettling. However, very well executed and great balance of light and color. One of the only pieces to get a physical reaction from judges.”


• Second Place: Joseph Bruno, Ocean City Boardwalk; “Pushed the boundary of photography. Showcased both great photography skills and ability to manipulate photos.”


• Third Place: Leslie LoSasso, Storm Approaching Margate; “Great composition. Tells the story of the title given to the piece. Encompasses how it feels to see a large storm approaching.”


• Honorable Mention: Brenda Ruth, Best Seat in the House.


• Honorable Mention: MC DeMarco, Island Beach State Park.


• Honorable Mention: D.J. Haslett, Perspective.

• First Place: Vicki Jo Thurlow Lewis, Sand and Sea, Clay; “Very simple but extremely well done. The different glazes worked well together. The bowl showed great craftmanship.”


• Second Place: Molly Hall, Lotus Flower, Clay; “Well done. Simple but great use of design and color. A well-balanced piece.”


• Honorable Mention: Loris Sekella, Baltimore Oriole, Glass on Glass Mosaic.


• Honorable Mention: Lisa David, Riding Waves, Mosaic.


• Honorable Mention: MC DeMarco, A Walk on the Beach, Found Objects on Homemade Paper.
