Hammonton girls run well against OLMA

HAMMONTON—Hammonton High School’s girls winter track team performed well against Our Lady of Mercy Academy last week, winning five events.


Emily Dustman won two events, taking first place in both the 55-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Kaylie Ranere won the 1,600-meter run, while Carrigan Genovese was first in the 55-meter hurdles and Gabriella Angelastro won the shot put.


Dustman took first place in the 55-meter dash, posting a time of 7.84 seconds. Sophia Vento was second in 8.04 seconds, while Genovese placed fourth in 8.34. Juliana Dogostino (8.84), Ilianna DeJesus (9.04) and Emma Amilcare (9.14) also competed for Hammonton.


In the 200 meters, Dustman won in 27.84 seconds. Vento was third in 30.34, while Mackenzie Haldeman placed fourth in 30.54. Also running were DeJesus (32.64), Dogostino (32.94) and Ariadna Martinez-Lopez (33.84).


In the 400-meter dash, Amilcare was second (1:07.74) and Vento finished third (1:07.84). Martinez-Lopez (1:15.24) and DeJesus (1:16.84) also placed in the top 10.


Ranere was second in the 800 meters, finishing in 3:02.00. Abigail Smith was third (3:03.10) and Sabrina McFerren was fifth (3:27.10). Isabella Rivera posted a time of 3:31.90 and Hailey Reese finished in 3:46.00.


Ranere won the 1,600-meter run in 6:24.80. Smith was second in 6:36.20, while McFerren placed fourth in 7:13.20.


In the 55-meter hurdles, Genovese won in 9.64 seconds and Haldeman was second with a time of 10.14 seconds.


Angelastro’s throw of 22-feet, 6.5-inches won the shot put, while Dogostino was second at 18-feet, 11.5-inches. Reese completed a sweep for Hammonton, placing third with a throw of 14-feet, 6.75-inches.


Hammonton’s boys had been scheduled to take on St. Augustine Prep, but the meet was canceled. The regular season wraps up on March 18, when Hammonton hosts Oakcrest at 3:45 p.m.
