Hawks sweep Linwood, roll into playoffs

HAMMONTON—The Hammonton Hawks swept four games from the Linwood Panthers on November 11 at William T. Capella Field.


Action began with the taxi squad, which scored a pair of touchdowns in a 13-7 victory.


The pee wee game saw the Hawks grab a 7-0 lead and hold on for a tight 7-6 win that clinched the top seed in this week’s Jersey Shore Youth Football League (JSYFL) playoffs.


In the junior varsity matchup, the Hawks grabbed another close victory, edging the Panthers 13-6 as they also earned the top seed in the league playoffs.


Closing out the night, the varsity Hawks cruised to a 22-8 win that secured the number one seed in the postseason.


With each of its teams seeded first, the Hawks will host JSYFL semifinals on November 18, beginning with the pee wee matchup at 4 p.m., a rematch against Linwood.


At 5:30 p.m., the junior varsity Hawks will take on the Somers Point Sharks, and the final game of the night will see the varsity Hawks host the Absecon Blue Devils.
