MULLICA HILL—Four Blue Devils scored in double digits, leading a balanced offense that helped Hammonton High School’s girls basketball team defeat Kingsway 68-50 last week in a South Jersey Invitational Basketball Tournament (SJIBT) matchup at Clearview Regional High School.

Hammonton jumped out to a 22-11 lead in the first quarter and controlled the action the rest of the way as it cruised to its second victory of the season.

Senior forward Emma Peretti paced the Blue Devils with 22 points and 10 rebounds, adding five assists in the win.

Ava Divello added 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while Giada Palmieri scored 14 points and had three steals. Shamaya Simola had six steals and 10 points, and Kiley Kozlowski finished the game with seven points and five assists.

Two days later, Hammonton lost a SJIBT game against Moorestown 42-39. That game was close throughout with the Quakers pulling ahead in the fourth quarter to earn the win.

Peretti led Hammonton with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Divello and Palmieri each scored eight in the loss.

The Blue Devils ended a busy week with a 42-33 win at West Deptford.

Peretti enjoyed her third double-double of the week and sixth of the season, collecting 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Blue Devils.

Kozlowski added eight points, Palmieri scored eight and Divello had six in the victory.

Earlier this week, Hammonton hosted Atlantic City, but that game ended too late for this edition. On January 5, the Blue Devils play at Egg Harbor Twp. at 5:30 p.m. and on January 6, they visit Ocean City for a 6 p.m. start.
