Local churches announce Easter schedules

Easter week is approaching, and local houses of worship have released their schedules of services to celebrate the week.


St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish


For Palm Sunday, March 28, the regular Mass schedule applies.


On Holy Thursday, April 1, a Tenebrae Service will be held at 8 a.m., a Mass of the Lord’s Supper with washing of the feet is scheduled at 7 p.m. and a Eucharistic Adoration will be held until midnight at St. Joseph Church, located at 226 French St.


On Good Friday, April 2, a Tenebrae Service is scheduled for 8 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Then, the Stations of the Cross are scheduled at St. Anthony of Padua Church, located at 285 Route 206, at noon. A solemn liturgy of the Lord’s Passion and Death is scheduled for 3 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, and an outdoor Spanish Stations of the Cross is scheduled for 5 p.m. in the parking lot of St. Joseph Church. At 8 p.m., a silent procession will be held in the parking lot of St. Anthony of Padua.


On Holy Saturday, April 3, a Tenebrae Service is scheduled for 8 a.m. and an Easter Vigil Mass is scheduled for 8 p.m. at St. Joseph Church.


For Easter Sunday, April 4, there is a sunrise Mass scheduled at 6:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Convent Grounds. There are Masses scheduled for 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, and at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. (in Spanish) at St. Joseph Church. There will be no evening Mass on Easter Sunday.


There is also an 8 a.m. Mass scheduled for Easter Monday, April 5.


These are subject to change. The parish is currently livestreaming its Masses through its Facebook page, where updates may be found.


Harvest Church


Right near St. Anthony of Padua is Harvest Church (formerly Hammonton First Assembly of God), located at 272 Route 206.


The congregation is scheduled to have a Good Friday service on April 2 at 7 p.m., and two identical Easter Sunday services are planned for Sunday, April 4 at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Livestreaming and Harvest Kids will be available only at the latter service. There will also be a family photo area.


Online services are available through their Facebook. Updates regarding Easter services can also be found there.


First United Methodist Church of Hammonton


Near to the center of town lies the First United Methodist Church of Hammonton, located at 398 Bellevue Ave.


On Palm Sunday, March 28, there will be an 8:30 a.m. worship service in-person, and a 10:30 a.m. worship service in-person and online.


There will be a Maundy Thursday worship service at 7 p.m. on April 1, both in-person and online.


The church will be open from noon to 3 p.m. on Good Friday for prayer, and there will be a 7 p.m. worship service both in-person and online.


On Easter Sunday, April 4, a sunrise service will be held in Hammonton Veterans Memorial Park at 7 a.m. followed by a 9 a.m. service also in the park. There will also be a 10:30 a.m. Easter service which will be held in the church and livestreamed.

Presbyterian Church at

Hammonton


Across the street from the First United Methodist Church of Hammonton, next to Hammonton Veterans Memorial Park, is the Presbyterian Church at Hammonton, situated at 326 Bellevue Ave.


The Presbyterian Church of Hammonton will be partnering with the First United Methodist Church of, and all Holy Week services will be at their location.


On April 1, there will be a 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday service at the Methodist Church.


On April 2, the Methodist Church will be open from noon to 3 p.m. for Good Friday prayer and meditation; worshippers are invited to come and go as they please. There will be a Tenebrae Service at 7 p.m., which will be recorded and available online.


There will be a joint Easter “Sonrise” Service in Hammonton Veterans Memorial Park at 7 a.m. The Presbyterian Church will hold their “in-person” worship service at 11 a.m. There will be no singing, and everyone must wear a mask. There are also seating limitations in place, so call the church office at (609) 561-0168 for more information.


The service on April 4 will be the first in-person service for the Presbyterian Church of Hammonton since November, and they plan to continue every Sunday following Easter.

Hammonton Baptist Church


Around the corner from the Presbyterian Church at Hammonton is Hammonton Baptist Church, which can be found at 19 S. Third St.


A Resurrection Morning Praise Service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 4.

SS. Peter and Paul Traditional Catholic Parish


Down the street from Hammonton Baptist Church is SS. Peter and Paul Traditional Catholic Parish, Society of St. Alphonsus Marie de Liguori, located at 300 Peach St.


On March 28, there will be an 8 a.m. Low Mass and a 10:30 a.m. Solemn High Mass for Palm Sunday.


On Holy Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday—March 29, 30 and 31, respectively—there will be a Great Biblical Preaching and Holy Mass at 6:30 p.m.


On April 1—Holy Thursday—the Blessing of the Holy Oils will take place at 6 p.m.; all Alphonsian Redemptorist Religious are to be present. The Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m.


The Stations of the Cross will be held on Good Friday from 11 a.m. to noon. A Mass of the Pre-Sanctified—the Adoration of the Cross—will be celebrated from noon to 3 p.m.


On April 3, the Blessing of the New Fire, Baptism and Holy Mass will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m.


Easter Sunday begins at 6 a.m. with the Office of Lauds, followed at 7:30 a.m. by the Office of Prime. There will then be an 8 a.m. Low Mass and a 10:30 a.m. Solemn High Mass.

Calvary Chapel of Hammonton


Located at 660 S. Egg Harbor Rd. is Calvary Chapel of Hammonton.


A Good Friday service is scheduled for 7 p.m. on April 2; the service will be in-person and livestreamed on the church’s YouTube channel. It is a family service, and there will be no child care.


An In-Person Resurrection Sunday Sunrise Service is scheduled at 7 a.m. on April 4. This will be meeting at Hammonton Lake Park; visitors are advised to bring a chair and possibly a blanket. In case of rain, the service will be held at the church. At 9 a.m., an In-Person Resurrection Sunday Service—with children’s ministries offered through grade 5—will be held. An in-person and live streamed Resurrection Sunday Service, with children’s ministries offered through grade 8, will held at 10:30 a.m.

Victory Bible Church


Just down Egg Harbor Road from Calvary Chapel is Victory Bible Church, located at 816 S. Egg Harbor Rd.


On March 28, April 1 and April 2, Victory Bible Church will be hosting “The Easter Experience, a live presentation. Show times for each night are 6 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and each performance will be approximately 30 minutes long. This is a free event, and will be following the CDC guidelines with social distancing; masks are required to enter the building. The sanctuary and bathrooms will be sanitized between each performance. Due to COVID-19 capacity regulations, seats are limited and registrations are required for this event.


Easter Sunday Services are scheduled for 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. indoors, and 9:30 a.m. outdoors.

St. James Lutheran Church


Situated in Folsom is St. James Lutheran Church, located at 1341 Mays Landing Rd.

There will be a Palm/Passion Sunday Service March 28 at 10 a.m.


Maundy Thursday services are scheduled for April 1 at 7 p.m.


On April 2, a Good Friday Evening Service will be held at 7 p.m.


There will be an Easter Service on April 4 at 10 a.m.


All services will be available live and via Zoom. For those who attend live, masks and physical distancing are required. The Zoom link can be found at the church’s website at stjamesfolsom.org.
