Mary Agatha Schilling



Mary Agatha Schilling (nee Musielski), 95, died on January 23, 2021.


Mary was born in Bloomfield, N.J. on December 1, 1925. Mary graduated from Perth Amboy General Hospital School of Nursing on September 19, 1946. After graduation, she joined the Navy and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. She served during the Korean Conflict as a Navy flight nurse transporting wounded soldiers on their trip home. While in the Navy, she met her husband Noel Keith Schilling Sr. Together they raised four amazing children. After her service in the Navy was completed, she continued her professional nursing career working at Naval and private hospitals. She finished her career as an operating room nurse at Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton, N.J. and Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah.


When she wasn’t working in her nursing profession, she enjoyed painting and playing golf. She was an inspiration to her children as she continued to explore other avenues of creative endeavors such as acting. Mary is remembered by all those who knew her as a kind and generous person.


She is predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Noel Keith Schilling Sr., and she was the last surviving member of her eight siblings.


Surviving are her children, Mary Catherine DeMarco (Anthony), Pamela Anne Lopez, (Gilberto), Noel Keith Schilling Jr. (Susan) and Elaine Marie Farr (Joel); 12 grandchildren; and over 20 great-grandchildren.


A viewing was held from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. on January 30, 2021 at St Olaf’s Catholic Church 276 E. 1700 S., Bountiful, Utah , followed by Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan Purse (https://www.samaritanspurse.org/).
