Caroline M. Byrne (nee DeCicco)

Caroline M. Byrne (nee DeCicco), 93, of McLean, VA. passed away on October 15, 2022 at Manor Care Fair Oaks in Fairfax, Virginia. She was born in Hammonton, N.J., and graduated from Hammonton High School, class of 1947. Caroline enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking with fresh vegetables from the garden, and eating out. She loved eating well. She enjoyed playing bridge and tennis, and staying busy around her home and garden. She was a lover of the fine arts, especially classical music, and attended all her granddaughter’s concerts. Caroline was a successful real estate agent for 30 years. She was a pioneer for women in business running her own real estate company for some years and working for various other real estate companies in Northern Virginia for many years. She also passed on her knowledge and experience conducting classes for real estate licensing.

Caroline was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Robert Byrne; her parents, Joseph and Caroline DeCicco; her brothers, Samuel, Salvatore, Joseph, and Albert; as well as her sister Antoinette Capelli. She leaves behind her children, Joseph (Anne) Tomasello, Andrew (Geeta) Barr, Susie Vanderpool and her grandchildren Stephanie (Mehmet) Ogden, Jimi Vanderpool, Angelique (Andrew) Williams, Joseph Michael (Leslie) Tomasello, and Laurel Ann (Sean) O’Connell; as well as great grandchildren, Evelyn Vanderpool, Kerem Ogden, Ayla Ogden, Havva Ogden, and Joseph Tomasello’s 10 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Sarah DeCicco, several nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

The family will hold a small, private service in her honor. They would, however, very much appreciate you sharing any of your special memories and pictures of Caroline.
