Obituary - Salvatora LaMazza

Salvatora LaMazza

Salvatora LaMazza (nee Russo), 86 of Hammonton, N.J. passed away Friday January 5, 2024. She was born in Turin Italy and moved to Hammonton in 1960. Over the years she worked for several clothing factories in Hammonton and was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America and retired from Sparta Medical. Sally loved to garden, not only vegetables but the many beautiful flowers and plants that grew inside and outside of her Packard St. home. If she grew too much of something she would say; “Make friends with it” and share it with her neighbors and family. She had a knack for cookie baking and would often taste something and reverse engineer the recipe until she got it right. In the winter months she enjoyed crocheting anything from scarves to jackets and colorful blankets. As a mother if you offered her something she would ask do you have three, I have three children. Resourceful, strong-willed and resilient, she was a force to be reckoned with and a hard act to follow.

Salvatora is predeceased by her husband, Giuseppe “Joseph” LaMazza; and parents, Car- mello and Rosaria Russo; brother, Carmello Russo; sister, Victoria Micale and son in law Edward Lewis. She is survived by son, Joseph A. LaMazza and his wife Cheryl of Galloway, N.J.; daughters, Antoinette “Toni” Rav- elli and her husband Eric of Irvine, Calif. and Rosemarie Lewis of Montverde, Fla. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Gabrielle and Tyler Ravelli, Bergen and Zane Lewis and Mia LaMazza.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend her viewing Tuesday January 9, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. Third Street Hammonton, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11:00AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish – St. Joseph’s Church 3rd & French Streets, Hammonton, NJ. En- tombment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery, 124 S.
