FRANKLINVILLE—A school record-breaking performance gave Hammonton High School’s Emma Peretti the state Group 3 gold medal in shot put at the State Group Championship meet held at Delsea Regional High School on June 10.
Peretti’s mark of 39-feet was the best of the day in Group 3 and broke her own school record. The Yale University commit also competed in discus, placing seventh overall with a mark of 117-feet, 7-inches.
Freshman Mitra Sampson continued her outstanding season for the Blue Devils, finishing fifth in the shot put with a throw of 37-feet, 9-inches, tying her own school record for a freshman.
Five Hammonton boys also competed at the state finals.
Sophomore Christian Medina was 16th in the shot put, posting a mark of 46-feet, 5-inches.
In the 4x800 relay, Hammonton’s team of Brandon Martinez, Jesus Flores, Dom DeRose and Fernando Flores was 18th with a time of 8:37.80.
