Reverend Terry L. Martin

On the Feast of Pentecost, Sunday, June 5, 2022, The Reverend Terry L. Martin passed away suddenly and unexpectedly but very peacefully in his sleep at his home in Hammonton, N.J.

Terry spent his life in the service of his family and his church in the Episcopal priesthood. He graduated from the Anglo-Catholic Episcopal seminary of Nashota House in Wisconsin and was very proud to be “a son of the House.” Consequently, his skill at conducting the Episcopal liturgy was absolute meticulous perfection, and proper, carefully executed liturgy was his passion. He was 68 years old.

He also loved books and would frequently say “I’m a reader!” He exulted in a good story in a movie or a book. He relished writing things himself and telling his own stories. His latest hobby was gardening, and he turned his backyard into a mini farm of vegetables and flowers. He will be missed by his church, his children, grandchildren and former parishioners, but most of all by his closest companion and only confidante, his wife Cherie.

He leaves behind his wife, Cherie Calletta Martin; daughters, Michelle Martin Juri (Matthew) and Chrissy Martin Barba (Chris); and sons, Paul and Kenneth Martin. Also surviving him are his grandchildren, Jordan (Auri), Kailey, Trevor, Tanner, Lily, James, Jackson and Aidan and one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn.

May he rest in peace and rise in eternal glory on this Day of Pentecost, the birthday of the church and Terry’s own birthday in his new life of the hereafter.

On Friday, June 24, 2022, a service of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 1 Hartford Rd, Medford, NJ 08055. Visitation will be at 1 p.m.; Eucharist at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton N.J.
